The story behind by ASTRUP
Anette Astrup Pedersen lost her youngest daughter Maria and wanted to express her grieving process by establishing the brand that will represent her care for others and her creativity. Marie was born in 1996 as the 4th kid in the family - and she was a little sister with lots of energy and go-getter spirit. She also helped with creative product development in the ASTRUP group. She was diagnosed with acute leukaemia in 2013 when 2 years of nightmarish treatments began.
However, Marie was still creative and adventurous - she loved butterflies, so her hospital room was decorated with them. Marie passed away in 2015, but Anette from ASTRUP-group has created by ASTRUP to remember her beautiful daughter and honour her. The logo of by ASTRUP is one of Marie's butterflies. Every year, by ASTRUP donates what would have been Marie's net salary to the kids' Cancer Fund, so that hopefully one day we can have a world without cancer.
