Who is Michael Kors?
Designer Michael Kors moved to New York City from Long Island in the 1970s to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology, but ended up dropping out after 2 semesters. In 1978, Michael began working at the French boutique Lothar?s, which allowed him to design his own first collection. The collection became so popular that he could then start his own brand - and the Michael Kors women's collection was released in May, 1981. It was sold in Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue stores.
Later, he became particularly well-known as one of the judges on the popular TV show, Project Runway, in 2004.
