It started in 2008 when founder Rinke was pregnant with her first kid and when she was looking for lamps for her little ones room. Rinke, however, could not find anyone she liked so she decided to make a lampshade herself.
Rinke then began making lampshades with his sister and they sold the lampshades online. There was a great demand for the products, so they started collaborating with a sewing shop and designed new products.
After that, it sped up and an entire team was hired swiftly by the company and Rinke's partner took care of the financial part of the company. He is still employed and responsible for the business-related part of Little Dutch.
The range was extended to include toys and first came the soft rabbits and then the toys made of wood. Both models are hugely successful and today Little Dutch is a well-known name in the Netherlands and other countries in Europe.
