The story of Rollerblade
In 1980, two brothers from Minnesota, who both loved hockey, found a pair of in- line rollerskates in a sports shop and thought this design ville be great for practicing off-season hockey.
They started making a design themselves, and created the first Rollerblade rollerskates in their parents' basement. The same thing they founded their company. Soon, hockey players began to get a large of attention on the streets as they rolled off on their in- line rollerskates in the summer. Skiers also started using them for their off-season training.
Only in the mid-80s did in- line rollerskates to become more popular, and in the late 80s they were sold in general sports shops. In the 90s, a revolution in in-liners took place: the materials became lighter and stronger, and new technologies emerged which further improved them.
