The company was founded by two astrophysicists namely Andreas and Nikolai. They had a desire to create a business from scratch. They wanted to create posters that had products with humor, irony, and Danish dialects and as such they founded Dialægt.

Initially, the two invested only DKK 3000 to start the company. The company grew rapidly and today they have a turnover of millions. Dialægt participated in 'Løvens Hule' in 2019, which is the Danish equivalent of the Dragons Den. In the program that aired on DR1 in Denmark, they received an investment from both Jesper Buch and Jan Lehrmann.
