LEGO® winter coats for kids — Technical quality and playful design

When the cold bites and the snow falls, kids need outerwear that is as durable as it is fun to wear. LEGO® winter coats combine the recognizable, colorful and playful aesthetic of the LEGO universe with uncompromising technical performance. Whether your child is building snowmen or playing in the schoolyard, a LEGO® winter coat will ensure they stay warm and dry.

LEGO® Wear is known for its high quality standards, with a focus on safety and functionality. The Jackets are designed to provide maximum freedom of movement, which is essential for active kids. In our large selection you will find winter coats from LEGO® for both boys and girls of all ages, from the little ones who need to stay dry in the stroller, to the older schoolchildren who need durable outerwear for wild games.

LEGO® designs the jackets with children's favorite themes and toy figurine in mind, making it easier to get them to put jacket on, even when it's cold. You can find jackets in strong primary colors that reflect the classic LEGO blocks, or jackets with discreet print of LEGO® Ninjago, Friends or Classic motifs to suit every taste.

Several of the winter coats in our selection are also suitable as a lightweight jacket for the cool autumn and spring months, where others, thicker jackets are better suited to keeping kid warm when the weather turns frosty. The most important thing is to always take your child's needs and activity level into account when choosing the right model.

Key technical features of LEGO® winter coats

LEGO® Wear is not only fun; it is also technically strong. We recommend that you familiarize yourself with the practical features of the jacket before you buy:

  • Waterproofness (Water column pressure): The most technical models (often LEGO® TEC) typically have a water column pressure of 10,000 mm and up. This is necessary to keep water out, even after many hours in heavy rain or wet snow.
  • breathability: Good breathability (typically 5,000-8,000 g/m²/24h) is essential for the kid's sweat to escape. Without good breathability, the kid will become damp and cold from the inside.
  • Windproof: All LEGO® winter coats are designed with windproof outer fabric to prevent cold wind from penetrating, which is a large source of chilling.
  • Taped seams: To ensure 100% waterproofness, most technical LEGO® jackets are equipped with fully taped seams so that water does not seep in through the seams.
  • Safety: LEGO® places large emphasis on safety reflectors that significantly increase visibility in the dark. In addition, many jackets have a removable hood that quickly falls off if the kid gets Fast on something.

Not all winter coats have all of these maximum features — that's why we recommend that you think about what the winter coat will actually be used for. If you're going on a winter vacation in an area with very low temperatures, you may need a warmer model with extra insulation than the one he or she uses at home in Denmark.

Types of LEGO® winter coats

LEGO® offers different series and types of winter coats to cover all needs, from lightweight models to the deep Frozen:

  • LEGO® TEC: This is the brand's high-performance series with the highest water column pressure, breathability and abrasion resistance. Ideal for long days in the institution, in snow and sleet.
  • Down jackets: Warmer jackets filled with down-like padding (Thermolite or similar synthetic insulation), which provides maximum warmth with low weight.
  • Shell and lightweight jackets: Lighter waterproof jackets that are perfect for early winter or as an outer layer when the weather is mild but windy.
  • Motif jackets: Jackets with large, distinctive print of popular LEGO toy figurine that focus on fun design alongside functionality.

Size guide for LEGO® winter coats

LEGO® winter coats follow standard sizes based on the kid's height in centimeters. It is important that the jacket allows room for a mid-layer (e.g. fleece or wool), but it must not be too large. If the jacket is too large, the kid will be cold because too much air circulates.

We recommend a growth allowance of approx. 3-4 cm. To test the fit, let the kid stretch their arms forward. If the sleeves still cover the wrist and the jacket is not tight across the back, the size is correct. The correct fit ensures both thermal insulation and freedom of movement.

Maintenance: Maintain water resistance

To maintain the LEGO® winter jacket's waterproof features and DWR (durable water repellent) waterproofing, wash it as infrequently as possible. Wipe the jacket down frequently with a damp cloth after use.

If the jacket is to be washed, it should be done at a low temperature (typically 30-40 degrees) and on a gentle cycle. Use a liquid detergent intended for sportswear/outdoor clothing and avoid fabric softener as it degrades the breathability and waterproofing. Tumble dryers should be avoided; the jacket should be hung to dry indoors.
