The woman behind the brand is Donna Karan and she is a modern pioneer in the fashion industry. Donna Karan released her first collection in 1984. The collection consisted of 7 different parts and the idea was that women could create infinite combinations of these simple garments and always look elegant.
The brand DKNY (Donna Karan New York) was founded as a result of Donna's daughter Gaby becoming a teenager and starting to help herself to Donna´s clothes. Donna simply wanted for her daughter to stop borrowing her clothes.
This was 1989 and since then DKNY has been synonymous with New York and the collections have been inspired by the atmosphere and attitude that you find in New York City.

Today, Donna Karan is probably one of America's most famous designers, and 30 years later the iconic brand is still as relevant as before.
