25 years ago, Mario Moretti Polegato got the idea behind Geox. He wanted to create a shoe that had the flexibility and the strength that rubber boots have but also lets the feet breathe, all day.
He created a small shoe company and developed a new technique for rubber boots, calling it ''the first breathable shoe''. After offering the invention to established companies without success and after he had released a collection of kids' shoes, he began to produce more shoes. Soon his company offered shoes for both men, women, and kids and this is how Geox was founded.
The word 'Geox' consists of the word 'Geo' - which is the Greek word for ''earth'' - and the letter 'X', which symbolizes advanced technology. It represents training and energy, knowledge, and innovation, focus on detail and research in quality and everyday life.
